Brief overview of how authentication works on GetScreenshot and how to handle secret API keys.

To authenticate requests when using the API you need to pass your secret API key by using they apikey query parameter in your request. You do not need to provide a password.

All API requests must be made over HTTPS. Calls made over plain HTTP will fail. API requests without authentication will also fail.

You will receive your secret API key via email when you register for any of the available plans. If you don't receive your API key or you lose it you can always automatically ask for a new one from this page. GetScreenshot will send you a new email with the API Key.

Your API keys carry many privileges, so be sure to keep them secret! Do not share your secret API keys in publicly accessible places like GitHub, client-side implementations, forums, etc.

If for some reason you believe your API Key was compromised, please contact us immediately at
